Is this real marble?
It is refined marble resin — marble powder bound into a resin base. That gives it the weight and smooth stone feel of real marble, while staying durable enough to survive shipping. Solid marble at this size would chip on the first knock.
Does the Munj Janeu come with it, and do I have to put it on myself?
The sacred thread is included in the box, kept separate on purpose. Placing it over Hanuman ji's left shoulder yourself is the first act of devotion — that is what turns a delivery into a welcome. It takes a minute and needs no priest.
Where should I keep it, and which direction should it face?
East or north facing is traditional. At 4.5 inches it sits comfortably in a home mandir, on a work desk, or on an entryway shelf. The base is flat and steady, so no separate stand is needed.
How do I clean it? Can I do abhishek or apply sindoor?
Wipe with a soft dry cloth only. Please avoid water, oil and direct abhishek — the hand-applied finish is sealed but not waterproof, and prolonged moisture will dull it. A light sindoor tilak on the forehead is fine; a full coating will stain the finish permanently.
Will the colour look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but each piece is finished by hand in small batches, so slight variation in tone and detail is natural — no two are identical. Screen brightness also shifts how the finish reads. Think of that variation as proof it was not machine-stamped.
